Katarzyna Wiktorski Quintet Odessa Single Launch

+

DRYP (Canada/USA/Aus)

Katarzyna Wiktorski

Katarzyna is a Polish Australian pianist, composer, band leader and producer. Fusing improvisation, modern jazz, classical and film score influences, she creates emotional and ornate listening experiences for performance, screen and recording projects. Aiming to balance complexity and simplicity her sound is often described as cinematic, chamber-jazz with a touch of prog rock.

Kat brings together her quintet featuring Yael Zamir (flutes), Jade Nye (alto saxophone), Madison James Smith (electric bass) and Tim Cox (drums). The group will perform old and new works, alongside a preview of Kat’s highly anticipated sophomore jazz record, Odessa, celebrating the release of the album’s title single. A few words about this work by legendary pianist and composer Barney McAll - "Kat is a true seeker, and a gifted artist. Her new work "Odessa" speaks to that search, and to what she's found along the way. It reflects her Polish heritage and her ongoing work of individuation. A detailed compositional odyssey, it also leaves room for freedom and wild, true improvisational synchronicities to emerge organically. As Leonard Cohen said, poems are just evidence of life, and "Odessa" is fierce reverence of a well burning life.”

DRYP

A force of 4 sonic palates mashed together, DRYP draws from New Rock, Shoegaze, and Free Improvisation to create a new sonic infusion. The international collective of 4 artists from 3 countries met at Banff Centre for the Arts in 2025, immediately striking a musical bond.Their upcoming 5- song EP “DRYP” features Sheehy-Moss’ EWI bass, Rossy’s electro- augmented vocals/synth, Anderson’s hard hitting backbeats, and Waddingham’s experimental yet melodic pads. The band has a European tour in the works for the upcoming year.

Sarah Rossyis a vocalist and multidisciplinary artist based in Montréal, Canada whose work blends jazz, experimental electronics, and visual projections into ethereal soundscapes that are both autobiographical and socially conscious. Sarah’s artistic practice has a core of music and sound, but has fluidly expanded out to incorporate interdisciplinary movement and visual projections. Mentorship with Meredith Monk, explorations of cultural heritage at the Arabic Music Retreat, ancestral research with the Arrivals Legacy Workshop, and residencies at Banff Centre, were all formative experiences which live and breathe in Sarah’s work. Sarah's rich collaborative history includes John Hollenbeck (GEORGE), Meredith Monk, Richard Reed Perry (Arcade Fire), Patrick Watson, Thanya Iyer, NO COSMOS, Aaron Dolman, Jack Broza, and many more. In 2021, Sarah was appointed Artistic Director of the feminist choir, Chœur Maha, and accepted a role as a Professor of Music at Dawson College. Sarah’s interdisciplinary practice now includes education as a tool for social justice, empowerment, and transformation. A much-anticipated debut album entitled LUCID will be unveiled in 2025. Sarah Rossy's work is a unique and compelling representation of art, culture, and the human experience. @ara_ossy

NYC-native Declan Sheehy-Moss defies genres as a saxophonist and composer. Blending sounds in his Brooklyn studio, he fuses digital production with analog instruments. After studying jazz performance at the New England Conservatory, he finished his degree at SUNY Purchase. Since 2017 he has collaborated widely, from Pulitzer Prize winner Henry Threadgill to emerging talents like Cisco Swank, Talia Goddess, and more. Co-leading "More Better," they recently released their sophomore and livealbums. Performances at BAM,The Jazz Gallery, and Newport/Monterey Jazz Fests highlight the dynamic musicality of his music. He's also a musical assistant to Henry Threadgill, managing logistics and multimedia elements. For updates, visit declansounds.com and follow him on Instagram (@declansounds).

Daniel Waddingham is a Melbourne-based guitarist, improvisor and composer whose work encompasses jazz, rock and free improvisation. Whilst he began his career as an astute student of jazz, his affinity for experimentation and freedom has led him to broadening his sonic palette and embrace unorthodox approaches to music making. Daniels work explores extended technique combined with effects pedal manipulation to create unique sound worlds that extend the typical capabilities of guitar playing. His passion for cultivating unique ensemble identities and his constant search for deeper musical meaning has led him to develop a very distinctive and personal musical voice. Daniel is currently performing regularly across Melbourne’s experimental/ jazz scene as well as recording on a variety of different musical projects. His debut release Jawbone Arboretum is an experimental record released through Brisbane record label Made Now Music and is currently being performed across Australia. @daniel_waddingham
