For this special event, YoWo Music will celebrate the end of lockdown with an afternoon filled with music, storytelling and a workshop-style Q and A with some of Melbourne’s most accomplished female and gender diverse musicians.

YoWo Music is a contemporary music program for young women and gender diverse teens in high school. Founded in 2015 by local Melbourne musicians Lena Douglas and Claire Cross, YoWo Music strives to nurture confidence in young musicians and highlight a viable pathway to a career in music.
In a male dominated industry, YoWo sheds light on successful female musicians and industry professionals and uses their expertise and enthusiasm to inspire the younger generation; ultimately contributing towards gender diversity and youth participation within the contemporary music scene. YoWo participants have the opportunity to be in a band, write original songs, get inspired by professional musician mentors, play gigs, record music, gain confidence and have fun.
